Survey finds 18% would support a secessionist effort in their state
UTICA, New York -One in five
American adults - 22% - believe that any state or region has the right to
"peaceably secede from the United States and become an independent republic," a
new Middlebury Institute/Zogby International telephone poll shows.
Democratic Sen. Robert Ford's bill won initial
approval from a Senate subcommittee Tuesday. It would force county and municipal
governments to follow the schedule of holidays used by the state, which gives
workers 12 paid days off, including May 10 to honor Confederate war dead.
Mississippi and Alabama also recognize Confederate Memorial Day.
You may not have heard much about it, but there's a quiet movement afoot to
reassert state sovereignty in America and stop the uncontrolled expansion of
federal government power. Almost half of the state legislatures are considering
or have representatives preparing to introduce resolutions which reassert the
principles of the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution and the idea that
federal power is strictly limited to specific areas detailed in the Constitution
and that all other governmental authority rests with the states.

At the National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington
Hilton Hotel this morning, President Obama caught pro-life advocates off guard
when he said God wouldn't condone taking the life of an innocent human being.
The President sure is making
friends off the bat, isn’t he? His silly glove across the face of Rush Limbaugh
is already filling up blog space everywhere tonight - and rightly so. It’s been
a while since we’ve seen this kind of pettiness coming from the White House.
This is just the latest in what has been nearly four days of yanking away the
so-called olive branch Barack Obama spent the better part of his campaign
promising to extend to the other side and shoving it into the nether regions of
his opponents.
1. If President Barack Obama is resolute on reversing Bush administration measures that have served to keep this country safe from attack for over seven years, I want him to fail. 2. If the President believes that enemy combatants captured on the field of battle are due the same Constitutional rights as American citizens, I want him to fail.
3. If the
President believes that “direct diplomacy” with despotic leaders of murderous
regimes is the best way to keep America strong, I want him to fail.
Obama: Quit Listening to Rush Limbaugh if You Want to Get Things Done. Obama warned Republicans to quit listening to Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats, during a White House discussion on his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package. WASHINGTON -- President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You
can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP
leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1
trillion stimulus package.
Saudi Prince Warns Obama to Change Israel Policy
LONDON -- A member of Saudi Arabia's royal family warned U.S. President Barack
Obama Friday the Middle East peace process and U.S.-Saudi ties were at risk
unless Washington changed tack on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Israel had
come close to "killing the prospect of peace" with its offensive in Gaza, Prince
Turki al-Faisal wrote in an article published on the Financial Times's website.

But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he

A POINT TO PONDER: A new person is created at the instant of conception; not just life but a new life, one that has never existed before and will never exist again. At conception the color of its eyes, is sex, number of fingers and toes, how much it will weigh, its height, the color of its hire, everything about this new person is pre determined by the combined DNA of the persons involved. A woman finds herself with child and finds this to be inconvenient, and seeks out an abortionist and they murder the new baby in her womb. … Or, the woman finds this exciting and has the baby and it grows and goes to school and then collage. Becomes a lawyer and work as a community organizer, becomes a member of the State legislator then a US senator and then the grand prize, elected president of the greatest nation in the world, the mothers dream comes true her son is president. Shortly thereafter a deranged person walks into the oval office and shoots the new president dead and the world morns. … Ponder this: Who is the guiltiest of murder? [The mother and abortionist who kills the future president in her womb]? Or, [The deranged person that shoots the new president dead in his office]?
A Christian mother has been told by a Virginia court
that her 6-year-old daughter must now visit the mother's former lesbian partner
in Vermont, and if she refuses, the law will remove the girl by force, if
necessary.
